IWC Delhi Midtown Solidarity Event for ‘Orange the World’ Campaign

Under the leadership of Club President Kiran Memani and Association Secretary Dr. Urvashi Mitta, IWC Delhi Midtown organized a meaningful event to show solidarity with and support the 16-day-long ‘Orange the World’ campaign. Marking its 25th anniversary, the campaign, which aims to eliminate violence against women, commenced on 25th November and will conclude on Human Rights Day, 10th December.

More the Merrier &
Alone we can do so little,
together we can do so much.

In collaboration with Pragyata Foundation, the event brought together mothers of children from underprivileged backgrounds attending extra classes at the Pragyata Centre, along with students from Ryan International School. Psychologist Mr. Bharat also joined the initiative to lend his expertise.

Highlights of the event included:

A powerful street play performed by students, which depicted the struggles of a victim of physical violence and her journey towards self-reliance.
An insightful session by Psychologist Mr. Bharat, who explained the underlying causes of violence.
An interactive session led by the Club President and Association Secretary with both mothers and students, analyzing real-life scenarios and their solutions.
A testimony shared by a survivor currently undergoing divorce proceedings. She spoke of her challenges and the financial and moral support she received.
Recognition and Empowerment:
Certificates were awarded to the students, shawls to the mothers, and eatables were distributed to all attendees. Additionally, a ‘Stitching Centre’ was inaugurated, with the goal of empowering women from disadvantaged sections by enabling them to achieve financial independence.

Key Takeaways from the Program:

Students, being in their formative years, can be guided towards developing a strong and positive mindset.
Students should form Support Groups to help peers stay on the right path and, in collaboration with RWAs, support the community.
Women must reflect on their role in perpetuating harm against other women and focus on self-reform and self-awareness.
Ladies should also create Support Groups to assist sufferers
