District 301

Brief History of District 301

With the aim of serving the society through the collective efforts of all its enthusiastic & dedicated members.

District 301 has been passed through interesting evolutionary stages to achieve its present status in the international inner wheel world. In the past, as district 310, its 13 clubs covered far-flung areas stretching from Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh to Punjab & Haryana. As the Inner Wheel movement picked up momentum, its growth necessitated carving out District 309. While the parent District 310 had (Late) Mrs. Kanti Manohar at the helm of affairs, Mrs. Minna Kapur took charge of the new born District 309.

The year 1985 saw another shake up in the tune with Rotary Districts. This in turn, brought the present District 301 into existence with Mrs. Anita Agrawal as its Founder Chairman with the strength of 21 clubs.

District 301 today has 105 Clubs with the good strength of 3000+ members covering Delhi and neighbouring areas in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The strength of District 301 comes from the facts that it has given four International Inner Wheel Presidents to the inner Wheel movement. The first Indian International IW President was Mrs. Minna Kapur.

International IW President Mrs. Anita Agarwal was the first Indian to chair the International Inner Wheel Convention in Sydney.

International IW President Mrs. Abha Gupta chaired the International Inner Wheel Convention, Copenhagen.

The 50th President of International IW Dr. (Mrs.) Kapila Gupta chaired the International Inner Wheel Convention at Melbourne.

To add the glory, we had Dr. (Mrs.) Kapila Gupta as the first Indian International Inner Wheel Treasurer for three consecutive years 2013-14, 20140-15 and 2015-16.

We also in the past have had from our District, International Inner Wheel Representative Mrs. Renu Mehra.

Two International Inner Wheel Board Directors Mrs. Abha Gupta and Mrs. Shashi Gupta.

Nine Association Presidents Mrs. Shubh Manchanda, Mrs. Minna Kapur, Mrs. Renu Mehra, Mrs. Anita Agarwal, Mrs. Abha Gupta, Mrs. Shashi Gupta, Dr.(Mrs.) Urmil Bareja, Dr.(Mrs.) Kapila Gupta and Mrs. Preeti Gugnani.

Seven Association Secretaries Mrs. Renu Mehra, Mrs. Abha Gupta, Dr.(Mrs.) Urmil Bareja, Dr.(Mrs.) Karuna Bhalla, Mrs. Amita Bogra and Mrs. Sangeeta Bharti. Six Association Treasurers Mrs. Shubh Manchanda, Mrs. Chanchal Bawa, Mrs. Sudha Gupta, Mrs. Chandra Garodia, Mrs. Maya Ratnam, Dr.(Mrs.) Kapila Gupta and The newest one being Mrs. Urvashi Mittal.

Two National Editor Mrs. Seema Khaitan and the current NE Mrs. Anita Jain.

District 301 has the distinction of having Past IIW President Mrs. Minna Kapur, Past Association Treasurer Mrs. Sudha Gupta, PDC(Later) Mrs. Sita Aggarwal, PDC Mrs. Manju Vaish, Past IIW President Mrs. Abha Gupta and Past Association Secretary Dr. Karuna Bhalla and Mrs Mamta Bhargava as recipient of the prestigious Margarette Golding Award.

We covered another milestone in 2014-15 by hosting DARPAN-60 years of Inner Wheel in India Very recently we had the opportunity to host the grand event of celebrating 100 years of Inner Wheel “EUPHORIA” in 2023-24.
