13th August 2024 District-301 celebrated Virusha, District Intercity in a unique and spectacular way under the leadership of our Dynamic and Innovative District Chairman Dr.Manisha Kaushik.
The word VIRUSHA means brave, strong, fearless – and the word embodied the essence of the event. For the first time in the history of District-301, the DC Dr Manisha conceptualised an initiative which involved The ladies of AWWA ( Army wives welfare association) who helped in ascertaining and establishing 25 Veer Naris ( widows of Army personnel) whose husbands were martyred at different times in the span of the last few years. The research, the verification process, the arrangement of getting them at the event premises involved tremendous amount of hard work. PP “Anmol “ Neena Vasudev helped to ascertain and establish the 25 Veer Maris . District Chairman arranged the Manekshaw auditorium at Dhaula Kuan, another first time venue. District ESO Madhu Nagpal worked in tandem with Host Club IWC Noida along with PDC Asha Walia, President Ritu Dhillon and their club members for the arrangements .
The event was graced by the presence of IIWP Mrs Mamta Gupta, AP Mrs Sunita Jain, IPAP Mrs Preeti Gugnani, AS Dr Urvashi Mittal, NE Mrs Anita Jain, the Entire Team of District Executives, our Golden Ladies the PIIWPs, District CCC, PDCs and the enthusiastic members of District-301.
As the Veeranganas or the Veer Naris were called upon- by MOC PDC Asha Walia, each one’s brief introduction was given as an acknowledgment of their resilience and their courage against all adversities and each of the 25 ladies were given a sewing machine to honour and empower them.
With the emotional and heart- touching couplets rendered by PDC Asha Walia each person in the audience was left with a moist eye and a lump in the throat.
The icing on the cake was the special invitee Captain Yashika H. Tyagi who is one of the earliest women to have served in the Indian Army and is now a motivational speaker. The 5 foot something petite lady was a bomb in a chotta packet when she spoke to an audience of 450 women who were reverted by the awe inspiring stories, traditions and exciting trivia she shared from her years in the Army. Her power packed and inspiring speech about her life journey gave her a standing ovation.
A ramp walk for our Inner Wheel ladies dressed as Viranganas from our Indian history took place and the best 3 judged were given prizes.
There were also performances by
